As a parent (or even as not), the mornings can be crazy. One child is having a meltdown. The other one is hollering to you about something they need today for a school project. Lunches are yet to be made, no-one has eaten breakfast yet. You have to be out of the house in 30 minutes to catch that train or be at work for that 9 am meeting. You can feel your body getting tense, your mind is feeling frazzled and you just want to snap.
That use to be me few years ago. Now I am super grateful to have HeartMath to support me through stressful moments and even at other times to simply maintain my peace – which in turn affects my body and nervous system!
HeartMath affects your Heart Rate Variability (HRV) which in turn is a reflection of how balanced or coherent your sympathetic (fight/flight) and parasympathetic (rest/digest) nervous systems are. HRV is the variability in your heart rate for instance within a minute. Our heart beat is always fluctuating and the greater the variability the better it is for your health.
HeartMath techniques affect how you breathe and we already know that breath is powerful. Did you know when you breath in the sympathetic nervous system kicks in and when you breath out the parasympathetic nervous system kicks in?
This morning as I was getting lunches ready, my 10 year old son was almost tears about his recent haircut. Yes these are the things that might be important to them at that age! He was upset that the hairstylist hadn’t cut his hair like he wanted. My 13 year old was yelling from upstairs asking where his zipper front sweatshirt was. Then my 10 year old was saying, “you still have to test me again on my spelling words”. Both of them were frazzled.
In the past, I would have gotten caught up in their “frazzle” and emotions. And I too would have gotten tense and irritable.
Now, I use HeartMath techniques to manage and flow through those stressful times.
I was able to remain calm, grounded, clear headed and respond in the best ways for all of us. Rather than have a reaction I’d maybe regret later.
Furthermore, the hearts electromagnetic field is approximately 100 times stronger than any other part of our body, including the brain (*reference below). And because the hearts energy radiates out three feet. I was able to facilitate a change in the energy of others around me.
More to come on building social coherence using HeartMath!

A recent client of Avdeep states, “I truly recommend the HeartMath program with Avdeep. HeartMath gave me much more than I expected. I came into the program with an intention; little did I know that I would emerge with a new philosophy: a new outlook on how to carry yourself through life, a new perception. Little did I know, that the HeartMath tools would be ingrained in my every day life; it became a resource that gave the phrase ‘living from your heart’ a new meaning. Little did I know, that this program would help me deal with work and life stressors.

One of the most valued features of this program to me was the group sharing aspect. Avdeep creates a safe place for the participants to share experiences, intentions and learning moments. These sessions connect you to your own heart but also connect you to the participants through the power of the heart.
What is HeartMath? HeartMath is a series of tools, but with Avdeep’s guidance, it is a way of existence.”
